Created in 1880 by Levi’s, to me, denim jackets are synonymous with Americana.
Denim jackets are great, however the ones I love most are lined with shearling…
The biggest question though: how to style them?
How to Wear a Shearling Denim Jacket
Do you remember the movie “Wild America?”
I do.
Did you know it was set in 1967?
I (somehow) didn’t.
Didn’t Devon Sawa’s shearling lined denim jacket look completely contemporary?
Yes, it did.
So that’s how I’m going to style these outfits, but, remembering that my style icons are Kate Moss and Emmanuelle Alt, that doesn’t mean these outfits will be totally American…
Denim Shearling Jacket with Dresses
Yes, these would look so cute with a ~nice~ pair of shoes.
Mary-Janes, a low pump ballet flat, yeah, I totally agree.
… but, I want to keep the wild and free feelin’ alive. After all, the Stouffer brothers didn’t risk their lives in a bear cave for me to just snub that spirit.
Dresses are inherently more, well, feminine.
So, to get that Western spirit, we’re adding, well, the most Western-inspired boots I own (i.e., Isabel Marant boots).

What Pants to Wear with a Shearling Denim Jacket
As I said before, denim is the most American piece of apparel.
… which is why you can wear whatever shoes you want and still get an American-feeling from your outfits.
Like, what I mean to say is you don’t need to make it look “more American” with boots, because your denim bottoms take care of that.
