SIR the Label has been on my list for some time now.
Their white eyelet dresses never fail to catch my eye.
… but with age, I’ve become more prone to spilling red wine and would like to avoid mercilessly stabbing delicate dresses with Tide To-Go pens.
So when I saw this tiered & shirred maxi dress, in a cream floral-esque print, I was all over it.
Sir the Label Dress SIZING
For reference, I’m 5’5.75” and weigh 115-117 lbs.
My other sizes run below:
-US 2, in HVN or Reformation
-Small, Rag & Bone T-Shirts
-UK 8, in ALEXACHUNG
-FR 34-36, in Isabel Marant or Rouje
My SIR the Label dress is a size 1 (the brand’s equivalent to a size small).
This dress has straps, but it’s way easier and more comfortable if you simply tuck the straps in.
The shirred top of the dress is tight — not uncomfortably tight or “size up” tight, it’s just, comfortably tight.
It’s best to tunnel your way through the bottom to get this dress on, then adjust the top — this way, you’re guaranteed that the dress will sit the way you want it to.
… but because, the shirred top is finished with some extra detail on the edges, which I ripped while trying it on for the first time (I pulled the top up my body instead of tunnelling, oops).
IMPRESSIONS
SIR the Label’s tiered dresses, like the Sachi dress, are easily described as kind of like the dress Belle wears in Beauty & The Beast.
… and by kind of, I mean that it has loads of tiers in the skirt and a form fitting top.
OK, maybe that sounds silly, but it’s perfect for manifesting your my indie Disney princess goals.
See how the tiers feel less Disney princess and more indie Disney princess?
See how the dress floats across the room terrace?
See how the print on the linen looks less baroque and more dive bar?
OK, maybe you see it or maybe you’re like “nahhh.”
… but either way, the dress is an effortless wonder.
PROS & CONS
Pros
–100% linen
–Flattering: This trip to Costa Rica was pretty food heavy, but it still looked good.
–Convertible: Use the straps… or don’t (like me).
–Heavy: On the plus side, having a weighty garment (it literally weighs 1.8 pounds) feels luxurious…
Cons
–Heavy: … but it could be a struggle to fit in your suitcase.
–Delicate: I broke one of the ruffles within 5 minutes of owning the dress — oops.
Dribbling red wine on dresses is definitely not Disney Princess behaviour
… but like this dress, maybe that’s more indie Disney Princess-esque.
Sweet, flattering, quietly current, and more red wine-friendly than a white dress, this SIR the Label dress is a true beauty.
